Stages

Music has the power to make us all feel part of something bigger than ourselves while nurturing a true sense of community and local pride. Reflecting the diversity of its audience, Leigh Folk Festival has gained a reputation for imaginative ‘broad church’ programming, taking in the traditional and the alternative, the local and the international, the obscure and the celebrated, then bringing together these diverse strands into a coherent whole.

Main Stage

LEIGH LIBRARY GARDENS

The festival’s main stage has seen many changes in 30 years (including location) but one thing has remained true - our commitment to programming a broad church lineup of folk & roots music throughout the weekend, with something for everyone. Entry to the park is free but may be restricted at busy times.

Lower stage

LEIGH LIBRARY GARDENS

Down the bottom of Leigh Library Gardens - by step, ramp (or slide!) is the Lower Field Stage running all day on Saturday and Sunday, in a naturally-occurring amphitheatre, nothing says Leigh Folk Festival more than being able to take in views of the Estuary, under the sun* with perfect musical accompaniment. Uninterrupted bliss! Entry to the park is free but may be restricted at busy times.

*sun not guaranteed

St Clements Church

LEIGH BROADWAY

The ship-hull shaped domes of the 600-year old St Clement’s church provides the perfect backdrop for Leigh Folk Festival. Home to the Poetry by Candlelight (Thursday evening, free), Storytelling with Shane Ibbs (Friday evening, free), Open Mic Competition (Saturday daytime, free). Please note no alcohol is permitted to be brought into the church. Refreshments are available during the day.

The Fishermen’s Chapel

NEW ROAD

The Fisherman’s Chapel has so long been a staple of Leigh Folk Festival that even we’re not sure when they started hosting us. This beautiful Methodist chapel provides a space to step away from the hustle and bustle in a quieter setting. Just a short walk out the back exit of Library Gardens, some of our must-see acts will be scheduled here. Please note this is an alcohol-free venue.

THE BROADWAY PUB

LEIGH BROADWAY

On Sunday, festival friend’s The Pink Flamingo, (formerly homed monthly at The Railway Hotel, and now at Saks) will take over the outdoor space for something a little different - as they always provide!
Please note this is an 18+ venue.

Café Bar Hogar Del Mar

CLEMENTS ARCADE, LEIGH BROADWAY

New this year, we have a dedicated Sessions and Workshops venue where all the activities will take place. Café Bar Hogar Del Mar, located at the end of St Clement’s Arcade, handily located across the road from the Leigh Library Gardens. Whether you want to learn a new skill or just join in a rousing chorus, we have something for you!
