SINGAROUND led by Tony Prior | FRIDAY 28TH JUNE, 8PM-11PM

Come along with a song or two ready to sing as we go around the room each taking a turn to lead a song. Songs with choruses are very popular and you’ll get to join in with everyone else too! If you’ve never been to a Singaround before, this is a great place to start! A staple Leigh Folk Festival event, the Singaround always gets packed out, so get there early or it’s standing room only!
THE CROOKED BILLET, 51 HIGH STREET, OLD LEIGH, SS9 2EP.

OPEN SESSION led by Yael Bebb | SATURDAY 29TH JUNE, 7:30-11PM

This session is a “Come all ye” session for all abilities, no experience necessary. Bring along your instruments, your song sheets and get ready to join in! You can play a tune, sing a song, recite a poem or tell a (short!) story. If you want someone to accompany you when you sing, we have plenty of musicians ready to help! A very popular session last year and you’ll find a good range of beers sold here as well as top-notch coffee if you need to stay awake into the night.
CAFÉ BAR HOGAR DEL MAR, 4 CLEMENTS ARCADE, 11 THE BROADWAY, LEIGH-ON-SEA, SS9 1PA.

IRISH SESSION led by Paddy Beadle | SUNDAY 30TH JUNE, 3:30PM-5PM

This session is suitable for the more seasoned session player but is also a great one to come along and listen to and enjoy the craic! Bring along your acoustic instruments and get ready for some fast fiddling, nimble whistling and melodeon magic at The Mayflower!

LEIGH FOLK FESTIVAL CHORUS led by Pete Dunhill

We’ve never had a Festival Chorus before, this is an exciting new project and we are sure it’s going to be amazing! There are two rehearsals, one on the Saturday and one on the Sunday and then we will perform on one of the main stages on Sunday afternoon. Experienced musical director Pete Dunhill (Basildon Community Choir, Tune In Singing) will put you through your paces teaching two arrangements of folk songs. To get the most out of these workshops, it’s HIGHLY recommended you attend both rehearsals and turn up in plenty of time to get settled ready to sing! Suitable for both adults and children aged 10+ and for complete beginners to choir aficionados! You do not need to be able to read music, everything will be taught by ear.
