Chance to play this year’s festival in the annual Open Mic Competition

The Leigh Folk Festival Open Mic Competition will be taking place, as usual, this year on Saturday 27th June in St.Clements Church right next to the library gardens. Once again this year it is being run by Chris Robson, and fourteen performers from a variety of musical backgrounds will be performing to try to make it through to the final four, then one lucky performer will be crowned Leigh Folk Festival Open Mic Competition Winner 2020!

The contest runs from 12.15 pm-4.00 pm and is open to anyone who would like to come and perform. The only stipulation we have is that you are not already booked to play at the festival. You need to have two songs (originals or covers) and a possible third to perform if you are selected for the final. Four acts will be chosen for the final which is scheduled for 3.45 pm. The judging will take place at approx 3.30 pm. The overall winner will be given a spot on one of the Festival stages in Leigh Old Town on Sunday afternoon, June 28th.

If you would like to be considered for a place in this year’s competition then please contact Chris by sending an email to

Applications will be accepted from March 1st and contestants notified nearer the date of the festival.

We look forward to seeing you all there.
