Kate Waterfield is a Leigh singer and composer, playing viola, violin and concertina. She has been composing and performing music for over 15 years, initially writing music and songs for theatre. She has released two solo albums as well as folk concept album ‘Lofoten Calling’ with her trio the Kittiwakes. Her music has received radio play on BBC 6 Music’s The Cerys Matthews Show and Genevieve Tudor’s Sunday Folk. She has toured nationally, performing at folk clubs, music venues and festivals. She was invited to perform at a film launch in Bergen, Norway following the inclusion of some of her music as part of a television documentary there. She has sung and played on recordings by other artists including Kev Hopper and Crafting For Foes and most recently as part of the Leigh Folk Festival’s ‘Estuary Songwriting Project’, funded by Arts Council England.
