The terminal at London Southend Airport is going to be coming alive to the sound of music on the 9, 10, 16 and 17 June.
Uniquely for an airport, London Southend is hosting an International Stage showcasing a diverse range of live music. It can all be enjoyed at the upcoming Leigh Folk Festival (23-26 June), which the airport is proud to be supporting in its 25th anniversary year.
Artists currently scheduled to appear across the 4-days include X Factor singer / songwriter Lucy Duffield, jazz/hip hop star Lydia Kitto, pop band Arcaves (winners of 2015 ‘Essex Undiscovered’) plus other up and coming local and international singer / songwriters including Darren Jones, Simeon Baker, Sharon Rose, Charlie Wallis and Owen Williams.*
Artists are due to be playing each day from 11.30am to 2pm and then from 3.45pm until 4.45pm*, on a stage located in the departures lounge of the terminal.
Glyn Jones, Chief Executive Officer of Stobart Aviation that owns London Southend Airport, said “We are absolutely delighted to be supporting Leigh Folk Festival in its landmark 25th year. The festival is a great community event which as well as offering lots of fantastic entertainment also brings many new visitors to our town.”
Glyn says a live music event of this type is a first for the three times crowned Which? Best Airport in Britain, but it most certainly will not be the last – “We want London Southend to be at the heart of the community, something we are really keen to do by supporting local arts and culture projects. We are also very proud of the award winning status we have attained by providing a unique experience for our customers – this is something we want to build on and develop by hosting interesting, and maybe unusual for an airport, events such as this. We have lots of exciting developments underway at London Southend as we want to known as a vibrant, exciting airport with a multitude of interesting things to see and do, and where every single passenger has a first class experience.”
